It is inevitable that deployment will be a cause of stress for you and your family.

Service Members and their families are more likely than the average person to experience high amounts of stress. Deployment can cause many stressors that may affect the body and the mind. It can affect more than one area of your life, which can be difficult to deal with. Identify the stressors in your life and the potential stressors that will occur in each phase of deployment. Anticipating the potential stressors can help you and your family prepare coping strategies and techniques to best handle the situations. By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:

  • Identify impacts of stress on the body and the mind,
  • Distinguish between real and perceived stress, and
  • Apply strategies and techniques to address stress throughout the deployment cycle.
