Outreach with Leadership

Engaging Leadership

A strong supportive relationship with leadership is critical to the overall effectiveness of the YRRP. It is important to know and understand your leadership. Do they want to be involved in the details, or are they more interested in outcomes? Recognizing these important differences in leadership styles will assist you in determining the best way to engage leadership throughout events.

    Engaging Leadership Guide

The Engaging Leadership guide describes that leadership support is critical to the overall effectiveness of the YRRP. Gaining their support requires that you know how they like to receive information. Some prefer an interactive, process-oriented collaboration, while others would like a well-planned briefing. Understand and adapt your approach to ensure you use the best way to engage leadership.

Using Leadership Support

Leadership support can be demonstrated in many ways; the most impactful support is through attendance at events. The direct line of communication between leadership and Families is what draws high attendance and sends a powerful message that the attendees are important and that leadership cares.

    Utilizing Leadership Support Guide

The Utilizing Leadership Support guide describes the importance of leadership presence at events and the many positive impacts they can contribute to a Yellow Ribbon event. For example, leadership presence can increase overall attendance because Families are eager for information about the deployment. This can result in a decrease in Family Member anxiety about the upcoming deployment.
